Iron Based Products

Iron base alloys are used for wear resistance primarily in applications where severe corrosion and/or high temperature will not be a factor in the wear mode. Although some iron base hard-facing alloys are capable of performance at temperatures up to 1100°F, better results may be obtained using cobalt or nickel base products. Depending on the carbide concentration and/or constituents, iron base alloys are effective in resisting moderate to severe abrasion, impact, metal to metal, cavitation, and erosion wear modes. Typical applications for iron base alloys are crusher rolls, dredger buckets, hammers, tractors carriage rollers, screw conveyors, grader blades, road rippers, shredders, railroad frogs, pumps, etc.
