Surface Engineering’s KRYPTONITE is a special composite powder comprised of a tough Nickel Alloy blended with proprietary, thermally stable, encapsulated monocrystalline diamonds and various Tungsten Carbide {WC/W2C) particles. It is available in powder form for use with the PTA, Laser Cladding and Puddle Torch welding processes. It flows quite easily and yields semi-smooth deposits. In some cases multiple passes can be applied to achieve thickness up to 0.150″ (4mm). It can be formed and wiped to sharp edge. Deposits maintain a substantial hardness up to 1000F (52SC)! In addition to its SUPERIOR Low Stress Sliding Abrasion Resistance, it resists galling, pitting, and corrosion. It can be deposited on stainless steel, low and medium carbon steels, alloy steels, and cast iron. This material can be considered a potential replacement for Tungsten Carbide preforms in applications where sub-micron abrasion or erosion are not prominent. Deposits are NOT machinable and are only somewhat grindable.
